Love The Bus 2013

Many schools in North Carolina celebrated “Love the Bus” as part of a national campaign by the American School Bus Council to encourage bus driver appreciation and promote bus safety awareness.  More than 25 million students ride the bus in the United States each day, including nearly 800,000 students in North Carolina.

LEFT, RIGHT – Scotland County – Wagram Elementary School.

“The students had a blast making heart felt Valentines for their bus driver and their presentations were simply awesome. The drivers loved the special time set aside just for them and we were more than willing to express our gratitude for everything that the drivers do for us, to keep all students safe at all times.”

LEFT - Scotland – Washington Park. Drivers were treated to breakfast and received cards from students.

RIGHT - Brunswick - Superintendent Edward Pruden interviewed Transportation Director Bobby Taylor for his monthly video blog...he even got to meet Buster! Here is the link

Onslow County. Southwest Middle had a bus driver breakfast on Monday morning.

RIGHT: The bus drivers received goody bags that the students had filled with treats and a personal scrapbook that the students made for their bus drivers. Every student completed a scrapbook page for their bus driver. These pages were bound in personal scrapbooks so that each bus driver received a personal scrapbook.

LEFT: After the breakfast, the bus drivers and a group of students made a video about the right way to behave on the bus and the wrong way to behave on the bus. This video will be shown to the students and posted on our school website.

Surry County

LEFT: Bus drivers Candis Timmons and Jean Hicks pose with their valentines before leaving out on their afternoon trip.

RIGHT: Doe Moore, Sarah Niten, and Bertha Whitaker are given their Certificates of Appreciation for the many ways they take care of their bus riders on a daily basis.

LEFT: Iredell-Statesville - Coddle Creek students and staff members created gift baskets for our bus drivers. The baskets contained sweets, goodies, and gifts showing our drivers just how important they are! The students also created cards, banners, and posters letting our drivers know that "We Are Sweet On You" as a special way to thank the drivers for keeping them safe.
