What is Elluminate?
Elluminate Live is a tool that provides an online environment in which students meet with project leaders to watch them demonstrate different TIMS techniques, ask questions using voice over the Internet technology (VOIP), and interact with others. These workshops are similar to the face-to-face sessions offered in the TIMS labs at ITRE and UNCC. Elluminate will enable us to offer a variety of teaching opportunities without you ever having to leave your office.
Visit Elluminate's website and click 'support' to set up your computer.
Headset information:
One headset per district has been furnished to you. If you need additional units, you can order them from the following company. Govconnections is setup to deal with NC Government units. The price on the website is about $5.28, but generally the actual price runs between $4.50 and $4.90. The ones that we furnished you were $4.90, but seem to be a little higher quality than the initial ones that we received.
You may also goto any retailer that sells similar items. This would include stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, Office supplies like Office Depot, Staples, Office Max, Wal-Mart, KMart, etc.
They do not need to be stereo, but should have a noise-cancelling microphone. Computer speakers and an separate mic can be used, but you will find that feedback may be unacceptable.
For System Administrators:
Several Counties reported connection errors upon trying to open the interactive Elluminate software. Tech support has discovered away around this issue by making sure IP Access to 152.46.3.178 is open thru Port 2187. This is the IP of the server that hosts the Elluminate sessions at NC State. The web address is http://slms.delta.ncsu.edu
Elluminate requires an installation of Java. For a free copy of Java, visit: http://www.java.com/en/
