The NC School Bus Specification Committee is comprised of members of the school bus transportation community around the state and is charged with the task of reviewing and revising the state specifications for school buses, activity buses and state service vehicles. These revisions are based on feedback received from bus drivers, bus technicians, transportation directors, DMV, DPI and DOA personnel. The state is divided into 3 regions for representation on the committee: Eastern, Central and Western. Each region has a Transportation Director and two (2) bus technicians. Regional representatives can serve for, at most, two contract specification cycles.

The Specification Committee has fourteen (14) voting members and four (4) non-voting members.
