Love the Bus 2009

At Jesse Mae Monroe Elementary School in Brunswick County Ms. Reiter's art class made posters for each bus driver and placed on their buses.  A picture was sent to you and one to Brunswick Beacon.
2.  Valentines are being made for bus drivers by various classes.  Not sure if any will be done on-line or not but teachers are planning to have students make valentines.
3.  I give bus drivers throughout the year bags of candy etc. to show appreciation.  I will give each driver, sub driver, monitor, and sub monitor bags of candy items at Valentines.

Blue Creek Elementary (Onslow) students welcomed bus drivers on Feb. 13th with a Love the Bus poster.

At Blue Creek Elementary students also learned about school bus safety from Buster the Bus.

Asheboro City school bus drivers were treated to a breakfast in their honor. Guest speaker was DPI’s Dr. John Leak.

Millers Creek Elementary School is continued "Love the Bus "Week during the entire month of February. The students decorated Valentine's Cards in art class for our wonderful drivers. The PTO and the school presented the drivers with delicious cakes in the shapes of a bus on Friday February 13, 2009. The cakes had each driver's name included in the decoration. On February 19th, Buster the Bus visited the school. The school also honored the drivers with a "Love the Bus" lunch with items being named for drivers on the cafeteria menu.

Mrs. Linda Conner’s group of Allied Health II students are dedicated and caring individuals. Each morning they begin at 6:30AM and travel from RRHS to Halifax Memorial Hospital or Liberty Commons Rest Home to get practical experience with nursing care. In honor of LOVE THE BUS, this class surprised their bus driver, Mr. Lorenza Miles with a gift and a certificate of appreciation. Mrs. Conner stated “He is here every morning on time … ready to carry these students. The students wanted to tell him Thank You in a special way.”

Warrenwood Elementary (Cumberland County) recently participated in "Love the Bus" and got involved in recognizing their bus drivers and pointing out to the public, the safety of our state’s school bus transportation system For the week, grade levels and staff members thanked the school bus drivers by decorating the school buses, putting up banners around the school, providing them with breakfast and dessert foods, showering them with gifts and cards, and much more. There were even two local officials, the Honorable Judge Edward Pone, and Board of Education member Macky Hall, who were able to ride the school bus with the students and the bus driver during a regular bus route.
