Patsy Hudson,

North Carolina Pupil Transportation Association

President's Message

As a transportation professional of almost seventeen years, it is my sincere pleasure and privilege to assume the role of President of the North Carolina Pupil Transportation Association. I am extremely passionate about our association and feel fortunate to be a part of this amazing industry. As President, I’m honored to serve with a knowledgeable and conscientious executive board and look forward to an exciting year in pupil transportation.

The normal headaches and heartaches of opening school have been overshadowed by the tremendous challenges each of us are facing in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence and more recently Hurricane Michael. While many counties have returned to somewhat normal operation, there are still school systems that remain closed because the damages are just too severe and communities are still trying to recover. Challenges from these natural disasters along with the day to day obstacles of driver shortages and substandard pay make the task of transporting students even more demanding but I have no doubt we are up for the challenge.

Our association strives to be an incredible resource for current and prospective members. I encourage each of you to become active in your home district, join a committee or seek expertise from members of the executive board to help find where your particular expertise can have the most benefit.

I hope to see many of you at upcoming district meetings and don’t forget to mark your calendar for our next Transposium to be held June 24-27, 2019 in Wilmington, NC.

Best wishes for a safe and successful school year!

Patsy Hudson
